She knew what all of the gauges

and little dash lights were for

except one

with a funny symbol

that could have meant anything

the wiring

the brake cables

the electrical circuit

or maybe the alternator

the transmission

anything.

So when it started to flash

not regular like a blinker

but off sometimes

on sometimes

off again

she worried

that it meant

something

terrible, expensive

that her car might explode

the brakes would fail

or the tires go flat

she checked the manual:

the yellow indicator

with the funny little symbol

meant her wiper fluid

was low.
